Wall-E
As "green propaganda," I found it unobjectionable. Honestly, who doesn't agree that cleaner technology is better? Or that we should try to cut down on our waste? Which cultural conservatives don't agree that consumer culture has a dark side - that it has the potential to deaden who we are? No - when it comes to matters of environmental protection and preventing cultural decadence, I think we disagree with leftists mainly on what should get top priority and which conservation strategies actually work. And when it comes to specific (and politically-tinged) solutions, Wall-E really has nothing to say - except, perhaps, that we should all step away from our T.V. screens and fast food and exercise more. And that's not something I disagree with either, truth be told.
At any rate, now that I've gotten the political business out of the way, I can talk about how sweet the movie was and why everyone really should go see it -
( spoilers )
In sum: I don't want conservatives to be put off by this movie's "green"-influenced dystopian vision of our collective future because the character touches make it worth seeing.
